BUS STOP
by William Inge
Kathleen Wile makes her directorial debut for THE ALLEY in this story taking place in a small roadside diner in the middle of a Kansas snowstorm. Weary travelers on board have to take refuge in the diner until morning. Off the bus, a nightclub singer is being pursued by "a young cowboy with all the romantic finesse of a rodeo bull”, determined to carry her back to Montana. The proprietor of the cafe and the bus driver who have previously only spent time in passing, find time to develop a friendship of their own; a middle-aged scholar comes to terms with himself; and a young girl who works in the cafe also gets her first taste of romance. A wonderful “slice of life” classic.
